Εργαστήριο Ψυχιατρικής Γενετικής
Εισαγωγή
Το εργαστήριο Ψυχιατρικής Γενετικής εδράζεται στο δεύτερο όροφο του ΕΠΙΨΥ. Οργανώνει και διεκπεραιώνει μελέτες πληθυσμιακής γενετικής συσχέτισης από το 1999 με σκοπό την αποσαφήνιση του γενετικού υπόβαθρου των μειζόνων Ψυχιατρικών Διαταραχών στον Ελληνικό πληθυσμό.
Ερευνητικοί σκοποί
Το εργαστήριο Ψυχιατρικής Γενετικής εκπονεί:
Α) Μελέτες γενετικής συσχέτισης στη Σχιζοφρένεια και στις Συναισθηματικές Διαταραχές
Β) Μελέτες γενετικής συσχέτισης ενδοφαινότυπων των Ψυχιατρικών Διαταραχών όπως είναι η λειτουργία της μνήμης και οιοφθαλμοκινητικέςικανότητες.
Γ) Μελέτες γενετικής συσχέτισης του ευρύτερου Ψυχωσικού φάσματος όπως της σχιζοτυπίαςκαι των ψυχωσικών συμπτωμάτων που ανιχνεύονται στον γενικό πληθυσμό
Δ) Μελέτες αλληλεπίδρασης γενετικών και περιβαλλοντολογικών παραγόντων κινδύνου για την εκδήλωση μείζονος ψυχοπαθολογίας.
Ερευνητικά Προγράμματα
- Προγράμματος χρηματοδότησης της Γενικής Γραμματείας Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας ΕΠΕΤ ΙΙ με τίτλο: “Προοπτική μελέτη στο γενικό πληθυσμό για την ανάδειξη προδιαθεσικών παραγόντων για τη σχιζοφρένεια και τις συναφείς ψυχώσεις με συνδυασμένη διερεύνηση ειδικών γνωσιακών λειτουργιών, μεταβλητών της προσωπικότητας και μοριακών-γενετικών δεικτών” (πρόγραμμα ASPIS). Το πρόγραμμα ετέθη σε λειτουργία τον Οκτώβριο του 1998. Η ερευνητική ομάδα έχει πλέον ολοκληρώσει τη συλλογή πολλαπλών επιδημιολογικών δεδομένων από δείγμα άνω των 2100 ατόμων. Η μέχρι τώρα ανάλυση των δεδομένων από το έργο αυτό έχει οδηγήσει στην δημοσίευση πολλών άρθρων σε διεθνή περιοδικά.

Πραγματοποιήθηκε η σάρωση του γονιδιώματοςμε την τεχνική AffymetrixGenome-WideHuman SNP Array 6.0
- « Ερευνητικό Πρόγραμμα Ψυχικής Υγείας Γυναικών Ορεινού όγκου Νομού Ξάνθης» στα πλαίσια του Ευρωπαϊκού Προγράμματος INTERREG III. Πρόκειται για διασυνοριακό κοινοτικό πρόγραμμα που αποσκοπεί στην καταγραφή της Ψυχικής Υγείας των γυναικών της διασυνοριακής περιοχής του Νομού Ξάνθης. Το πρόγραμμα προϋπολογισμού 250.000€ υλοποιείται από την Νομαρχιακή Αυτοδιοίκηση Ξάνθης, το Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Ξάνθης και τo Ερευνητικό Πανεπιστημιακό Ινστιτούτο Ψυχικής Υγιεινής (Ε.Π.Ι.Ψ.Υ) σε συνεργασία με την Ιατρική Σχολή Φιλιππούπολης της Βουλγαρίας, Ως τον Απρίλιο του 2007 είχαν εξεταστεί πάνω από 400 γυναίκες με την χρήση ειδικών ερωτηματολογίων και συνεντεύξεων που εστιάζονται στην εκτίμηση Ψυχοπαθολογίας του γυναικείου αυτού πληθυσμού καθώς και στους κοινωνικούς, ψυχολογικούς και βιολογικούς παράγοντες κινδύνου που συμμετέχουν στην εκδήλωσή τους. Το πρόγραμμα βρίσκεται σε εξέλιξη.

Πρόκειται για εκτενέστατο Ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα 18 Πανεπιστημιακών Ιδρυμάτων ανά τη Ευρώπη με σκοπό την ανάδειξη γενετικών, κλινικών και περιβαλλοντολογικών παραγόντων κινδύνου καθώς και των αλληλεπιδράσεων τους που ενέχονται στην ανάπτυξη και εξέλιξη των Σχιζοφρενικών Ψυχώσεων.
